Whole wheat banana coconut pancake

I tried this for breakfast and it turned out great. Kids loved it. This is a melt in mouth pancake where coconut crunch will surprise you in every bite😃. Top it with your favourite syrup… enjoy😎.



Whole wheat flour – 1 cup

Banana – 2

Grated Coconut – 1/4 cup (fresh or frozen)

Brown sugar/ sugar – 3 tbsn

Cinnamon powder – 1/2 tsp

Nutmeg powder – 1/4 tsp

Egg – 1

Milk – 1/4 cup

Water – less than 1/2 cup

Salt – a pinch

Butter – as required


  • Mash banana in a bowl.
  • Add brown sugar, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder. Mix it well.
  • Crack open egg and mix.
  • Add milk.
  • Slowly add flour and gently mix. Add required water to get right consistency.
  • Add grated coconut and mix gently.
  • Add a pinch of salt.
  • Heat the pan. Apply butter and pour a laddle of batter on it.
  • Gently spread a little.
  • Once it cooked, flip it over next side.
  • Serve warm with your favourite syrup.






Potato beans stir fry/ poriyal

Usually I make carrot beans stir fry, but this potato and beans combination was introduced to me by my good friend Surya. It tasted really good, so I tried it. Hope you also will give it a try.


Potato – 1 chopped

Beans – 1/2 cup chopped

Onion – 1/4 cup chopped

Coconut – 2 to 3 tbsn

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Red chilli powder – 2 tsp

Asafoetida – a generous pinch

Salt – as required

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp

Curry leaves – few

Oil – as required


  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Crackle mustard seeds.
  • Add onion and curry leaves. Sauté till onion turns translucent.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, asafoetida. Sauté and add veggies.
  • Cover and cook it in medium flame. No need to add water.
  • When half done add salt. Stir occasionally.
  • When its cooked add coconut. Stir for a minute.
  • Serve with rice.




No churn jam swirl strawberry ice cream

As this is summer, thought of treating kids with ice cream. With some strawberries on hand, l made this no churn jam swirl strawberry ice cream. It came out so nice. Kids loved it. Hope you also give a try.



Those red juicy strawberries are so irresistible.😃



Strawberry – 1 1/2 cup chopped

Heavy whipping cream – 2 cups

Whole milk – 1 cup

Sugar – 1/2 cup

Vanilla extract – 1 tsp

Jam – 6 to 7 spoons( I used strawberry jam)


  • Puree the chopped strawberries.
  • Whisk cold whipping cream till stiff peaks.
  • Add  milk, sugar and vanilla extract to it.
  • Whisk again and add strawberry puree.
  • Mix gently till it mixed.
  • Drop spoon of jam all over. Run over knife to make a swirl.
  • Transfer it to freezer safe bowl. Cover it tightly.
  • Freeze till it set. Scrape it using fork and again place it in freezer overnight.








  1. Adjust sugar as per your taste and sweetness of strawberry.
  2. Scraping is to avoid forming ice crystals.

Frozen banana milkshake

When life gives you overripe bananas, do not throw it, just freeze it and make this yummy milkshake.Kids will love it when you top it up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.


Frozen banana – 1 chopped

Milk – 1/2 cup

Sugar / honey – as required


  • Take all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth.
  • Serve chilled.




  1. If you like chunks of banana in your milk shake like me then just pulse it.
  2. Adjust milk for your required consistency.



Ragi/ Finger millet sweet porridge

This can be a healthy breakfast for elders and kids. If giving for infants avoid coconut as it may cause choke in them.


Ragi flour – 3 tbsn

Milk – 1/4 cup

Water – 1/2 cup

Jaggery/ brown sugar – as required

Coconut – 1/4 cup

Ghee/ melted butter – 1 or 2 tspn


  • Take ragi flour, milk, water, jaggery in a pot. Whisk , so there is no lumps.
  • In medium flame stir continuously till it boils and thickens. ( It takes 10 to 15 mins)
  • When it thickens add coconut and ghee and stir till mixed up.
  • Switch off.
  • Serve warm.





  1. You have to continuously stir, if not it will form lumps.
  2. Adjust sweetness according your taste.
  3. Adjust water/ milk to your required consistency.

Mango lassi/ Mango yogurt smoothie

This is one of my kids favourite. Whenever we go to a restaurant they first ask for mango lassi. So I made it in home when we got some mangoes.


Mango – 1  riped

Thick Yogurt – 1/4 cup

Water – less than 1/4 cup

Sugar – as needed


  • Peel off the skin of mango and cut into small pieces.
  • Take mango pieces, yogurt and sugar in a blender, pulse it.
  • Add required water and blend.
  • Serve chilled.






  1. You can reduce yogurt if you don’t like overpowering taste of yogurt.
  2. Best taste when served chilled.




Potato fry

This is my mom’s recipe.She used to give this in my school lunch. This can be prepared within 10mins.I am sure kids will love this.


Potato – 1

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Red chilli powder – 1 or 2 tsp

Salt – as required

Oil – to deep fry


  • Peel off the skin of potato.
  • Cut into half lengthwise.Again cut the half to half in lengthwise.
  • Cut into thin pieces.
  • Wash and drain it.

  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and salt.
  • Heat oil in pan.
  • Fry potatoes in batches till it turns golden.
  • Serve with sambar rice or any variety rice.
